"FEATHERED ANGELS"

THE PFC HAS ADDED SOMETHING NEW: A TRIBUTE TO THE BIRDS WE'VE LOST

WHILE THERE IS NO COST TO COMMEMORATE YOUR BIRDS' MEMORY, ALL TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

YOU CAME TO ME AS A HATCHLING AND HAD SUCH A WONDROUS PERSONALITY. YOU ARE GONE BUT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. SUCCUMBED TO FUMES FROM A SELF CLEANING OVEN.
SUCCUMBED TO FUMES FROM A SELF CLEANING OVEN. YOU ARE SO DEARLY MISSED, ESPECIALLY BY CHEVY, WHO STILL AWAITS TO BE REUNITED.
PETEY SURVIVED A FALL WHICH LEFT HIM PARALYZED, BUT AT LEAST HE GAVE ME 4 WONDERFUL YEARS BEFORE DYING FROM THE FUMES OF A SELFCLEANING OVEN. HE HAD SUCH COURAGE AND WAS LOVED BY EVERYONE WHO CAME INTO CONTACT WITH HIM.
YOUR PITTER PATTER, AS YOU TREKKED INTO THE KITCHEN EACH EVENING, TO HELP "MAKE" DINNER, IS PART OF A ROUTINE THAT WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED.
Gabriella was born on December 7th 1998. She loved to follow me around the house, climb up the my leg and hang onto the back pocket of my jeans while I was cleaning. She also loved to do "Hug...Kiss" . Unfortunately she was born with small air sacs. She died from Congestive Heart Failure on Februaty 19, 2004. She is missed Dearly.
May 12, 2000 - Dec. 7, 2002

The most loved little boy, gone from our touch, but never from our hearts. Mommy tried to move heaven and earth for you, but God had other plans. You are very sadly missed. George & Lisa B

A Poem for Sampson Bell
I'll lend you, for a little while, a bird of mine," He said.
"For you to love while he lives, and mourn when he is dead.
It may be six or seven years, or maybe twenty-three,
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, as all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this bird to learn.
I've looked the whole world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love - not think this labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call, to take him back again.
I fancied that I heard them say, 'Dear Lord, thy will be done.'
For all the joy this bird shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shower him with tenderness and love while we may,
And for the happiness we've known, forever-grateful stay.
And should the angels call for him much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand."
No more desending to pick on my plate. No more high-pitched squeal when I come home late. No more spicy little pinches when you disapprove. Our hearts are now saddend that you're on the move. Free now to fly to wherever you please, to visit your loved ones when they are in need. So we bid you fair journey while our hearts still bleed, Cleo we miss you. We love you. Gods speed!

I rescued Krystal from a Pet Store in November 1998 where she was being beat up by all of the other Parakeets because she was a Tiny Runt. She was my one and only special loved Parakeet who soon learned how to talk from the Cockatiels and she drove them crazy running after them and repeating everything they said over and over again. Krystal died from a Tumor on July 17th, 2004. She was the smallest cutest Parakeet with the Largest Eyes. We Miss Her Dearly. Fly with the Angels Baby Girl.
This little green bundle of love first came into my life eleven years ago in 1993 when a tree in Bridgeport came down during a storm from the weight of 250 Quakers nesting in it. He was offered up for adoption by the Audubon Society who rescued about ninety of them and doled them out to various bird clubs.

Within two weeks he took over my house. He assisted me in calling the dog in from the yard by knocking his beak on the cage wall (imitating me knocking on the window) and shouting, "Nickie, come on." Soon after, he called "Anthony," my son, who somehow could never hear me calling him. When I would sing "Vincero, Vincero," along with Pavarotti, he would chime in with a broken "a-a-a-a-a-a," and he loved to whistle "Pop Goes the Weasel" He shocked me one day, when I was counting aloud, "One, two ..." and I heard him say "Treee." He would say "thank you," when appropriate, and if he liked something I gave him to eat, he'd say, "Gooood."

When cats were hiding in the bush waiting for a bird to come to the bird feeder, Bridgie kept watch from his window and let out a warning shriek to protect the wild birds. Soon Nickie caught on and begged to be let out so she could chase the cat.

The one incident I could never forget was an occasion when my brother was teasing him. At that time Bridgie's cage was suspended from the ceiling, with a seed catcher hanging underneath. When the cage door was open, Bridgie loved to hang out on what he considered the terrace. My brother was really annoying him by repeatedly putting his finger close to him and laughing, "Ha Ha," when Bridgie would try to grab it and missed. Then my brother turned his head to say something to me. Bridgie quickly seized the opportunity to bite his hand, then ran under the cage to the other side of the seed catcher, turned around and pronounced, "Ha Ha Ha!" We were rolling on the floor.

Unfortunately, Bridgie started suffering seizures when he was about five years old. After many visits to the vet, he told me it was most likely due to liver disease and felt there was something these birds were getting in the wild that they weren't getting in captivity. On May 4th of this year, Bridgie had the worst seizure I'd ever seen and died in my hands shortly after.

We buried him in the yard with a statue of St. Francis holding a bird marking his grave. I can see it from my kitchen table. I'll never forget him.

LOVE, MATTIA

Ruby was one of my first Parrot Haven Adoptions. She came to me with Cataracts in both eyes that looked like she had stars in her eyes so we called her "Ruby Starr". She was one of the sweetest tiels ever. Ruby died on August 14th, 2004 of old age. She was 18 years old. We miss her very very much. Fly with the Angels Baby...way up beyond the stars!
Zuki had the biggest most beautiful eyes I ever saw on a tiel. He sang the most beautiful song. He lived to be over 20 yrs old. Sadly he passed away on January 8th 2005. His family misses him dearly. He will be loved always. Sing with the Angels Baby Boy. Fly Free!

"BIRD-LOVERS ARE AN EXTENDED FAMILY. WE HAVE LOST ONE OF OUR OWN:PHIL RIVERA, PRESIDENT OF THE CENTRAL NEW YORK CAGE BIRD CLUB, WHO HAS PASSED. HE EXEMPLIFIED THE MEANING OF OUR ORGANIZATION WHEN HE WENT OUT OF HIS WAY ON SO MANY OCCASIONS TO PICK UP OR DELIVER AN ORPHANED BIRD. ISN'T THAT WHAT WE'RE ALL ABOUT? I'M CERTAIN HE IS HEAVEN-BOUND BECAUSE EACH UNSELFISH DEED BRINGS YOU ONE STEP CLOSER. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY HE LEFT BEHIND.
FLYING WITH ANGELS
I am flying with the Angels,
While looking down I plainly see.
Your heart is filled with sadness,
I know you're missing me.
The times we had together
Were short as they could be.
The memories we both now share,
Will last..... eternity.
The love that showed
upon your face.
The sparkling of your eyes.
It made me feel so warm inside,
... so glad to be alive.
Now I'm flying with the angels,
Just as free, as free, can be.
When you look towards
the warming sun...
I know.. you will.. feel me.
MARY, YOU LEFT BEHIND A TRAIL OF FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE"

THOUGH NOT CLOSE, I WATCHED YOUR FRIENDSHIPS UNFOLD PEOPLE FELT CALM IN YOUR PRESENCE BECAUSE YOU WERE FRIENDLY AND PLEASANT.

MANY CUPS OF COFFEE AND TEA WERE SHARED IN THE KITCHEN WITH GLEE.

ALI REFLECTED YOUR PEACEFUL TOUCH WE'LL ALL MISS YOU VERY MUCH.

This is my eulogy for Lilly whose brave little soul taught me a lot in just three short months. Lilly was born with various handicaps that were not apparent to my vet or me initially. But despite her daily challenges Lilly greeted me each morning raring to go, filled with energy and ambition. She didn't seem to realize she was handicapped. She struggled, she floundered and she eventually got it as right as she could. She just never gave up.

When her little body decided it was time to move on after just three short months I was grief stricken by the loss but relieved that her daily struggles had ended. It was difficult watching her go about her day barely able to walk or stand.

She brought me the gift of being more mindful about 'never giving up', about, facing challenges head-on and remaining steadfast. She also brought me the gift of joy. Lilly, I love you.

IGOR, YOU CAME TO ME WHEN YOU WERE JUST A FEW DAYS OLD. IT WAS A PLEASURE WATCHING YOUR TINY BEING EMERGE INTO A FULLY FEATHERED BALL OF FUN. YOUR LITTLE "OH'S" WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. YOUR MOM AND DAD MISS YOU VERY MUCH.
